With Deanster Weekly article posts and overall viewership taking a nose dive this February, and most of 2024 so far, some people might make the assumption that The Deanster Weekly is alone in it's plight, or is losing to competition. The truth is, the problem isn't exclusive to the The Deanster Weekly. In just January of 2024, there have been well over 530 announced layoffs, according to Politico. The New York Times alone fired 115 journalists mid-January, who made up 20% of their staff.

Needless to say, such large declines in news media affected The Deanster Weekly heavily, despite not having any layoffs or loss in profits (still a steady $0) or any indicator at all that these layoffs had anything to to do with The Deanster Weekly in the slightest.
In any case, The Deanster Weekly is expected to return to previous levels of engagement thanks to recent addition of a "Games" tab on the main page and the upcoming announcement of it's first game; One Night at Deanster Weekly HQ, an unofficial game made by DW staff.
