Montoyaverse Saga - Tale of the Ink Family

Updated: Oct 16, 2023

Zachary Rose in a Field

Charlie Montoya was created by Mr Rucker. He was given most of his power and durability, but not more than half just in case. They became best friends, and Mr Rucker didn't want to let Charlie die by natural means. He was perfect.

Mr Rucker had retired from MBMS, like he said, and Charlie was going to high school. It was the first day of summer. Charlie played Fortnite and Fall Guys and went surfing during the summer. Without Mr Rucker, he was sad, alone. He knew his family was not actually real, and they were just artificially created by Mr Rucker. He was the only person Charlie could actually talk to and know that he was sincere.

Sometimes all Charlie wanted was a real family.

Charlie woke up in the morning and went into the bathroom. He looked himself in the mirror and wiped his face. He grabbed his toothbrush and turned on the buzzer before sitting down in the corner. His mom came in and grabbed the towels from inside the shower.

"How's the first day of summer!?" She asked him, cheerful as usual.

"Good." Charlie replied. "I'm going to go surfing this morning."

"Ok! Sounds good!"

Charlie went into the back and walked past his dad who was grabbing a soda from the outdoor fridge. Charlie grabbed a wet suit and brought it up to his waste, letting the rest hang down. He brought his E bike out and turned it on. Before he could get on, his dad placed his hand on Charlie's shoulder.

"Where you off too? The beach?"

"Take a guess, dad." He answered.

"You got your phone?"

"Yes."

"What about your surfboard?"

"Yes."

"Your tactica--"

"Dad, I'm good." He interrupted. Charlie got on his bike and rode out of the open gate. He sped off too fast to see his dad smile maliciously and walk away.

Once Charlie got to the beach, he locked his bike to a fence guarding a sewer entrance and took off his surfboard. He ran to the edge of the beach and looked into the water. He waited for a moment before walking back, placing down his board, and grabbing his water. After chugging it down, he grabbed his board and ran into the water. Once he jumped in, he realized something. He had forgotten to put up his wet suit.

Freezing cold water rushed into Charlie's clothes, soaking his skin and freezing his brain. His brain flashed through different images, one of his family, then their eyes turning red, Mr Rucker, and his dog peeing on the fence.

Charlie burst out of the water and reached out for his surfboard. He climbed on, shivering from the cold and rubbing his hands together to warm up.

Then he remembered the visions he had. His family... their eyes... Mr Rucker... and his dog peeing on the fence, which was the most important one. He got an idea.

If Charlie wanted a REAL family, he'd just have to do the same thing Mr Rucker did to him. Give him life, a conscience.

Charlie arrived home and ran past his parents, locking himself in his bedroom. He knew, since it was still early in the morning, all of his family was there. His parents, his two dogs, and his sister.

He rubbed his hands together and created sparks. Once he'd done this for a few seconds, he was ready.

"MOM! DAD! MAISIE!" He yelled. His parents burst in, but before they could react, he blasted them with a laser, shooting them back and causing them to collapse onto the floor. Their bodies were mangled and broken, but when Charlie got closer, they started to crack and fix themselves, eventually standing on two legs. The three of them snapped their necks back to the front. Their eyes were glowing white, like they were being possessed, and their veins were forming underneath their skin.

Suddenly, their eyes and veins stopped glowing. They woke up, looked around, and back at Charlie. Then, when they did, they frowned. They grabbed him and pulled him into his room. He was confused.

"What's happening!?" Charlie questioned.

"You are in BIG TROUBLE YOUNG MAN!" His dad said.

"What did I do?"

"Don't play dumb," his mom replied, "YOU SHOVED US ONTO THE FLOOR!"

Before Charlie could explain, they threw him in and locked the door. He ran to it, tried to open it, but stopped.

He had a family. His fake parents wouldn't scold him, but these ones did.

But, after a few days passed, he realized something. Why would his loving parents lock him in his room, and only for pushing them? He tried the knob again, but it was still locked shut. He tried looking through the tiny crack between the door and the door frame, but the slit was too small. He looked out his window, and noticed some black liquid spread across the ground. It seemed dried up, but what was it?

Charlie opened his window, waiting for it to ding, but when it didn't, he climbed out. He landed feet first in the middle of the black ink. He reached his foot out to touch the ink (so he could make sure it was safe to walk on.)

Charlie looked around, but suddenly, saw the ink turning into a liquid again. It was shiny and growing. The space he was standing on was shrinking.

When he looked back at the ink on the left, he saw something that horrified him. 4 bony fingers reached out of the ink. Then it was the hand. And the arm. He saw a small bit of inky hair rising from the puddle. Once the figure was halfway out of the ink, he realized it was his dad. Then, two other figures crawled out. His mom and sister. But, something was wrong with them.

His sister's face had been contorted into what looked like a dinosaur skull. Then he realized it was just one of her masks.

His mom had four arms, the top two being extremely long.

Charlie took a step back in fright, but was grabbed by another bony hand that reached out from the ink. He had stepped right into it and now he was stuck.

"What happened to you!?" He asked.

"You did." They all spoke in unison. "You created us. We live in constant pain and suffering. We'd like to return the favor."

Once Charlie realized what was happening, he used his power of flight to shoot out of his backyard. Once he was high above, he realized the thing that grabbed his ankle was still on him. It was his dog. He couldn't tell which one, as it was mostly bone.

Charlie took out the Setera blade and cut off the creature's hand. It fell to the ground, onto the ink puddles and got soaked in. Charlie, looking down at his family, hesitated. But, that hesitation didn't last long.

Charlie shot down, stabbing his sword into the ground, sucking up all of the ink and ink people. They screamed in pain as they were sucked into the sword. Charlie held up the sword and looked in the reflection, where he saw himself as an ink monster.

Charlie walked back into his house and put his sword on the table.

"I'll deal with that later." He said before walking back to his room and sitting on his bed. He wasn't powerful enough to create a conscience. He just had to wait to do it again, then he would finally have a family.

The moral of the story is: If your family tries to kill you, just kill them back.

But he didn't notice the sword beginning to leak black ink which found its way into the sink and down the drain.
